What Comes & Goes

Poison Christmas and the new year came and left without too much fuss. The best part of it was watching this Swedish Christmas animation I see every year. The glittery snow from my window and getting to see "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" on TV. It was better than I thought it would be, Jim Carrey always gives a great performance, and this one featured a character I actually liked. Bad, good, good bad, better than most on the bottom kind of guy. It's now one of my favorite movies.

This year I got myself a Wacom graphic tablet with pen. I had wanted one of those. It's a pen instead of a computer mouse and this means that you can draw in the graphic programs, instead of using the awful mouse.

I also got myself a great gift from my Secret Santa, the comic book "Watchmen" by Alan Moore. I got small miniature test perfumes from my brother. I still haven't decided which smell I like the most. Of course perfumes are almost just as interesting as the Jelly Belly's when it comes to analysing. I personally like a spicy smell, to me it's a little deeper than a sweet pink girly smell. Of course it's a matter of taste, but that's why it becomes interesting too. I smell and then decide what person it fits on. Is it fresh, is it romantic, sensitive, deep, or dangerous? Does the name for it match the smell, the shape of the bottle, the color? I like perfumes with a good name. Poison for example, Destiny and Dreams. Chanel Number 5 makes you wonder. Somehow it gives you a feeling of glamour? Something that definitely doesn't fit on me.

Over to MOVIES I HAVE SEEN LATELY

Lord Of The Rings - Two Towers
= Fantastic! It was almost just like in the book. Treebeard was the best in my opinion. The look and sound of him was touching. It's cool when he calls the hobbits; little orcs. It would have been awful if the ents wouldn't be great in the movie. As they are maybe the most important characters when it comes to the story. Them and the elves. My favorite scene featured Gollum and Sam discussing food. It's so funny when Gollum asks Sam what potatoes is. It goes something like this;

Sam: What we need is a few good taters.
Gollum: What's taters, precious? What's taters, eh?
Sam: Po-tay-toes. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew. Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish.
Sam: Even you couldn't say no to that.
Gollum: Oh yes we could! Spoilin' nice fish. Give it to us raw and wrigglin'.
You keep your nasty chips!

Matrix - Reloaded = I liked the first one. This one was boring to me. Particularly because I had forgotten small parts of the story to the first movie. This was a follow up and it didn't even have an end. This means that you have to see the last movie and most likely the first movie over again. To get the whole picture. I honestly dont think all the karate effect moves are all that cool. Maybe very young boys would feel thrilled though.

Mulholland Drive = I'm a big fan of David Lynch films. This one was one of those I desperately tried to understand, but in the end didn't. It was the same with Lost Highway, a movie I didn't like at all. David Lynch movies can be very confusing. All the little details, the craziness to the characters and the shifting scenes. Often what helpes you out is the symbolic parts he adds. A lot of people probably dislikes Lynch films for all these things, but his movies are not like other movies. What I like about them is that they usually have their own atmosphere. Often he use the same actors and the same bakground effects. And you have to ask yourself, what does this mean? In Mulholland Drive he uses a scene that's very similar to one he used in Fire Walk With Me. I probably will have to see it over again, maybe I will understand it more then. Favorites by Lynch is Blue Velvet, Fire Walk With Me, Twin Peaks, Wild At Heart and Eraserhead.

The Hulk = If you read the comics or saw the TV series as a child, then this movie isn't too much. I remember I used to be quite scared of the muscle guy who played Hulk, in the series when I were little. So I remember his face and I'm sure they had added him in the new movie, as a guy in the background. He was walking out of a door and you just saw him for a few seconds. But I'm convinced that it was him. The guy who played the Hulk didn't look like this other one at all, so to me the green guy just wasn't Hulk. If you ask me though, I think muscle men looks stupid. So generally speaking I'm not too fond of The Hulk. I think he should diet and settle down. You know, drink tea like an old English woman.
