Chocolate, Black Metal & No Miss!

Chocolate are not my favourite candy, I'm more of a potato chips type of person, I like salty and spiced up food, more than I like sweets and cakes. I'm not too fond of chocolate cakes, chocolate cream, chocolate desserts or chocolate milkshake. The best milkshake I tasted was banana flavoured, but they rarely sell those anyplace. I prefer anything else but chocolate really. Only thing I really like to taste chocolate is hot cocoa. I once tasted a really sweet light thick milk chocolate, extremely nice hot cocoa at a hotel in Spain. I was just a kid then, but they made the cocoa especially for me and my brother, it was obviously an expensive type of hotel, where you could order things that wasn't even on the menu. Such places makes me feel weird, room service and waiters bowing and calling you miss. It's not always alright. I'm not a royal. I like when strangers or office people, remember me by my front name and don't use my surname, it's just more personal. If people ask me my name, I give them my first name and if they are so interested in my surname, they can ask again or check some papers, if they have papers on me.

People only need one name.

I have both my parents family surnames aswell, unlike most people that only have their dad's surname, because my mother wanted me to have her last name too. It's old fashioned and rather sexist to take a husbands name, or let children only take their dad's name and not also do it the other way around. Why a husband doesn't want his wife's name is beyond me. Cultural traditions are beyond me altogether.

I found a fabulous website that is very much needed, at least for me. It's Zamzar, there you can convert files into a different format, I have been looking for a tool like this for years and here it is for free, without even a software to download, it's super! I have used it on some Youtube videos to convert them into mp3, generally live performance music that wasn't downloadable as songs in it itself, or just don't even exist on albums.

Now maybe you are curious (maybe not), to know which live songs I have converted. First of all I converted the live version of Mayhem's song My Death, because this song is very different live than on the album. When I bought the album with this song, I was disappointed when I noticed that it's nothing like the live one. I think probably all the different singers Mayhem have had, up trough the years are great in their own artistic ways, two of them wrote my favourite Mayhem songs. In my personal view though I have to say, that the current singer have always impressed me with his voice, more than the others. So for me when I choose, which live version of My Death to convert, I pick the one with the singer that goes by the artist name Attila. I still like Maniac too (the previous, very first singer and writer of some Mayhem songs), especially because in interviews I have read, he comes off as a regular normal guy, without the silly black metal bad guy Satanist persona. This doesn't fit everyones impression, when they look at him at a stage, which make him seem like something more, than the image it creates.

The other Youtube video I converted into mp3, is Morbid with Wings Of Funeral, this is not the band called Morbid Angel, that's another one. Morbid from what I understand doesn't exist anymore and old albums by them are hard to come by. Wings Of Funeral features the old Mayhem singer that committed suicide, he went by the artist name Dead. I don't own a Morbid album, but I wish I did.

I listen to this music because of the drums and the guitars. I have never liked the immature media image and the spotlight hunger to some people. The Nazism, Satanism and all the other nonsense, that have been around this type of music, because it's not what it's really about.

If you can handle the dark humour, there is a funny parody on Pelle (the Morbid and Mayhem singer Dead), that someone made and uploaded on Youtube. You can watch it here and here. Naturally it would probably be more fun to some people, if the real Pelle hadn't killed himself.

The current singer in Mayhem, Attila have some really great costumes on stage, it's very theatrical and atmospheric. Attila also sings in sunn 0))) (where his good voice really can be heard) and Aborym.

But what I really wanted to say with this entry is:
Smil was my grandmother's favourite chocolate, I miss her immensely and think about her very often. When she died a whole world and a very good part of my childhood became only a memory... Now they have Smil chocolate in mint flavour too, not just normal toffee. I tasted the mint one the other day and I have to say it's now my favourite chocolate. It's like After Eight with light instead of dark chocolate. It's wonderful.
