Music I would love to see added to Spotify: London After Midnight, Velvet Acid Christ, Burzum, Sunn O))), KMFDM, Metallica, Kagrra and Hide and there's more, but I can't remember them all now.
Some albums and songs they should add to the spot:
Prince - News (album) = the jazzy moody sensual Prince album, no singing, no pop, just jazz. Totally my favourite Prince album, it truly shows his musical talent. I love a lot of his pop albums and I adore his jazz on this one. It contains only four songs, long ones, called North, East, South and West. It's heavy, happy, hopeful, dark, hot and most of all very beautiful. This always moves me.
Dir en Grey - Macabre (album) = Ooo, this is by far one of my most treasured albums in my collection. This made me open up to asian rock bands, the new "noise" of it, the freshness of a whole different sound, both in artistic expression, voice and tune. I almost left all western music, European and American that is, for many months, maybe years, when I discovered the little joy and wonder, the creativity and soul, that came out of a band like this. I haven't liked Dir en Grey's latest albums, as much as I love the Macabre album, the later albums have a more "western" sound I feel. Macabre's little punk tribute, little nine inch nail anger, little sad lovedreams that gives you heartache and clutch you at the core of your booming veins. My most favourite song of all my loved songs, has to be Ain't Afraid To Die, it's so full of emotion and depth, it makes you want to smile and cry and bless your own ears, for being able to hear this magic of arts.
Graeme Revell - The Crow Film Score (album) = Don't mistake this for the various artists (band songs collection) Crow soundtrack, cause I'm talking about the background sounds/music album to the film Crow, there's two different soundtrack albums to this film. Loved the movie, it was dark and bitter and sweet and sad too (didn't like the second film though, naturally second ones usually always suck). I have listened to the film score late at night, in my bed with lights off and closed eyes, Revell manage to create an atmosphere with his music and sounds, a world of it's own. I imagined I died and went to heaven, while listening to this, it's best to hear it from the first track, keep it low and leave it on, in the background. Eventually your mind and heart will be effected and it will touch you and leave a little spark in your chest (if you can enjoy this that is). It's all instrumental of course.
Angelo Badalamenti - Twin Peaks Soundtrack (album) = Remember Twin Peaks the TV series? It's my old time favourite, it had it all you know. Great music by this Badalamenti, love stories, scary moments, weird characters, pretty women, Twilight Zone moments, oh boy! I have seen it over and over again so many times, bought the music and use it as background soothing sound to my dinners. Best entertainment I ever found, if you forget Star Trek and music (which can't be done). They have the Fire Walk With Me soundtrack album on the spot though, it's just as good.
Bootsy Collins - If 6 Was 9 (song) = Don't take drugs, listen to Bootsy instead! His version of If 6 Was 9 blew me away, when I heard it on the radio years ago. I couldn't get a copy of it anywhere for a very long time, eventually I found it on the net and it was so much better, than having a cut off in the middle bit of it, from a radio show copied on a cassette. Mp3's used to be, back in the stone ages of computers, a music lovers wet dream (well it was mine). (Yes my english sucks today I feel it too).
Paul Oakenfold - What It Feels Like For A Girl Mixed Version (song) = Not really a fan of Madonna, especially not the stuff she gave out after the great Ray Of Light album, I like her old material though. I seriously disliked her album called Music, all the songs on it, including the album version of What It Feels Like For A Girl, I ignored it with a grumpy feeling, so shallow I though this album was. I do however like the mixed version of What It Feels Like For A Girl by Oakenfold. So good in every way, you want to listen to this on the road, with friends, with yourself, anytime. I also like the female voice that speaks in the song. It's a dance music song with a meaning. The video was also very cool indeed I thought, it was not shocking or terribly bad, like the press said it was.
Sisters Of Mercy - Temple Of Love With Ofra Haza (song) = The best Temple Of Love version to me are the one with Ofra Haza. It's heftier, harder and more stormy than the original slower one. Elephantine it is. It lets me know just how much I like, good female voices singing this way. She could come out of the song itself and read your pulse. It's a good one to play, when you are fighting in your computer games.
W-Inds - Superlover (song) = A wonderful little hot song by some asian boys. Some males will call this gay, but it's actually very funky to me, I listen to it all the time on mp3. Reminds me of how much I love some asian rock-pop bands, seems to me it's often a bit less macho and it's got men that dare to be feminine, which is something I've always loved dearly.
Hide - Pink Spider (song) = I fell in love with this one years ago, this song. It's very sad that Hide hanged and killed himself, after recording the music video to this song. I believe some western aswell as asian bands, have been influenced by Hide, but most of it, are not as good as Hide's work I think. I read he was like an "Elvis" of Japan.
Tom Petty - It's Good To Be King (song) = Good song, good video and damn Youtube for removing so many music videos, they can pay can't they and we can pay? This song has it all, great lyrics too.
Jam & Spoon - Find Me (song) = Great song from a dance music group I don't really like, but I love this one.
There's more I was going to write here tonight, but it will come in a bit. Got a shiny new computer up and going, since my old one died of old age, but lately I have been busy hunting spiders that go bump in the night, it's a mad fear of mine you know. In the mean time you can go check my Google Reader Shared stuffs, it's updated almost daily.
