Collage Closet Project

I have a little project and I thought I should share it, I'm calling it Collage Closet Project. And it's a new and fresh and a cool hobby to attend to, so listen up.

I like to save cliparts that I find on the Internet, images that I like, often of a large variety. Usually my plan is to use them in collage art work, or keep as they are for artful inspirations. I save it and sometimes I print it out, to glue it on my closet. I thought this was a good idea, because what's the point with clipart otherwise.

I used to stick the printed images, in plastic film books. I did this so I could be inspired, while looking at the clippings book, whenever I wanted to be creative. Because inspiration are fundamental, to the blooming soul. But the closet are the first thing I see, when I wake up and it's also the last thing, so it's a much better canvas solution than the clippings book. Besides I only have two used pages in that book, so it's not much for the inspiration there.

The project goes like this; Every day I will think of something nice, one good thing. And then I will let the thought spark my search, for a clipart of the day clipping. Most likely I will browse for it in the Google Image Search. It can be a photographic image, or a non-photographic image. It can be a glossy glittered image, or a sticker.

It should be an item that I like, meaning; something that I love, meaning; no hate. Because hate are not very prosperous, in a positively successful way. It just digs out an envy and a bitterness that eats you, more than it feeds you. So it's better to try leave it out, whenever you can. Meaning; no forced love either, no crosses with Jesus, because it's morally right and no carrots, because it's healthy. Rather an evil bonbon, for the anger and the rebelliousness that comes on, because of all the fuss about being fit. Glue up elgitars, if you dislike church, rather that, than a burning church. And let it remind you on Sunday morning, that there are better sounds in this world, than the church bells. The images should be picked by heart and soul. They should tempt me. They should embrace me. They should make me smile. And they should entertain, all my lifeful desires. So they have to be me.

Some of the items that comes to mind are: Cauliflower, fairies, peace symbol, Christmas tree, cheese cake and pigs. I'm probably going to add these items later on. For example, the item of the day can represent, a food item I ate that day, or an object that amused me, or pleased me. But if I didn't enjoy the food I ate that day, it's better to pick something that stands in opposition to it. They can represent a small, almost unnoticeable comfort, like a good chair in a tedious waiting room. The image can also have a symbolic meaning, it could represent a hidden wish, or a dream.

To keep the collage work growing steadily, the plan is that I will find one clipart, every day. I will print it out, I will cut around the image and I will put glue on it. Then I will find an empty spot, in between the other cliparts on my closet. It should leave no space, or very little space around each image. Preferably in the end, there will be almost nothing to be seen, of the closet wall itself. All the surface should be covered. This will take awhile, because the closet are rather big. Maybe later on I'm going to take a picture of it, so you can see how the closet becomes a collage work.

If you are curious about what items I have already added, you can look here. I will update the list of clipart love items there, as my project evolves itself. If you have a similar project, or have ideas on what to add to my wall of love, just let me know.

From DAG: :-) I was also pretty fascinated by clipart.. and collected a little bit of it ! But it sits quiet on a harddisk mostly.. And im even too lazy to search through it all when i need something.. so i seem to end up searching on the net everytime... And great idea about the closet... !

From Raven: I'm glad you like it Dag :-) I think it's a good idea.

From Art-tic: Denne passer kanskje ikke den vel?

From DJ: hehe whoaa

From Gard: I made a half collage, half painting before Christmas. Unfortunately, I forgot to scan it before I gave it away as a Christmas present. I'm now thinking of making a "year collage" on a very large canvas. Again, part cutouts, and part paint. Something I thought might be a good idea, is to start at the bottom and go in a circle counter clockwise round the canvas, with June/July being at the top. I would have loved to do it to my closet door - alas, I rent. The door ain't mine.

From the ravenheart fanclub: ALL THE FANS CRY: "WE WANT ANOTHER ENTRY !" nowNOWnowNOWnowNOWnow.. :-)

From Raven: I am back! My computer crashed, but I have now got a brand new one! So I'll update any day now. Thanks for the support and LOVE!

From Mr Doug "dabug" Jacobs: YAYYYYYYY !! I almost started to suspect something like that !!!! Though I was getting really worried here... (I thought: "HAVE i said something wrong etc, have i made a fool of myself too much" etc )

From Raven: I'm glad to be back! And don't worry, I would never turn my back on anyone, for whatever reason, just like that. I'll always come back, if I dissapear. The comp. crashed last Friday, it was old and rusty, so I bought a new one today instead of upgrading the old one. It's awful when it happens, but then it's even better when you get things up and going again. I lost a lot of stuff on the old one, but hopefully maybe I was able to save some of it on CD. I need some time to get my new comp. in shape, but I'll update and I will check my emails as fast as I can. My box is filled up.
